Getting Closer

I, under the moon's light,
I tumble and swerve
Towards the edge of the canyon
To better see
All of the stars.

Can you see them
From New York City
Can you see them
From your
Bedroom window?

Time is a dimension
Connecting us all,
But what if we can
Send messages
Through this wall?

I look up and see a
Bright nighttime overcast-
A purple brown confusion
Situated stubbornly

I look up and know
The moon is just slightly
Slightly
Above the horizon.

Soon, I know, it will
Peak.
Soon, I know, it will
Wane.
Soon, I know, it will
Fade away.
But
Soon, I know, it will
Be anew.

I look up and know,
Just slightly, slightly,
You care for me
Above an average.

Space separates us,
But what is relativity?
I hear your emotions
Through the tiniest word
You say, the tiniest
Gulp you take.

Can you feel the moonlight?
Dissolving into our flesh?
Can you feel
Infinity and mortality
At the same time?

I, under light and facts,
Float and wonder,
I step and jump
Toward the height of the moon
To better feel
Your moonlight.
